If you’ve been scrolling through Instagram in these past few months, there’s a chance you’ve come across this producer and his euphoric style of electronic music. Meet LOCKBOX, 30-year-old DJ from Dallas, Texas. After releasing a plethora of successful singles under his stage name, LOCKBOX took to social media to promote his work.
“I think it’s a tough world to navigate for EDM artists,” says LOCKBOX. “When I first started out on my journey, I didn’t see myself being thrusted into a pop-ish spotlight. [I] didn’t see myself putting myself out there on social media to that extreme.”
Since taking on a greater social media presence, LOCKBOX has uploaded hundreds of videos to his instagram account, nearly all of which are in service of promoting his music. After all, according to LOCKBOX, old music isn’t old to new fans. “I’ve probably posted 300-400 videos at this point. It takes getting used to,” he explains. “I thought making music should be enough, but I’ve realized that in today’s day and age, with AI, being personal is important. What can I bring to the table? The human element.”
One of LOCKBOX’s greatest influences when it came to promoting his music was imagining that of fellow musician, Porter Robinson. Through combining similar sounds, aesthetics, and going as far as to remix one of Robinson’s old songs, it’s evident that LOCKBOX idolizes the artist.
“The verses are Nurture, the drops are Worlds,” he says in reference to Robinson’s albums. “How can I get that old kind of supportive style in the drops while keeping it modern, all while having that playful, glittery texture in the verses?”
Alternatively, he sees himself going further away from the heavier, more moody EDM that defines his previous music. “As I get deeper into my career, I find I started in the ILLENIUM and Seven Lions sad boy-style of music, but [as I produce] the next album, the more I want to continue with the euphoric style,” he says. “I realized there’s still a market in 2025 for this euphoric, pretty Porter-inspired stuff.”

Although there’s no determined point at when LOCKBOX decided to switch his style, it’s evident that the transition worked for him. As it stands, LOCKBOX sits at just over 60k Spotify listeners, with multiple songs hitting over 100k Spotify streams. One song in particular, however, seems to be doing massive numbers.
“Not Alone”—a multi-part electro ballad with collaborators Xant. and Dear Evergreen—is currently sitting at nearly one million Spotify streams. LOCKBOX described the creation of the song as unique, but still loves promoting it. “It started as a different song called ‘Still Here’ with Dear Evergreen, which was a similar song with a different instrumental,” he says. “Xant liked the song so much he decided to do a remix of it, and we put that version out instead. I had a feeling that it was going to be a crowd favorite for a lot of people, including me. It’s still my favorite song.”
Yet it wasn’t just that the song did well that made it so special, but the timing as well. Repackaging the song made it easier to gain new fans, as it became a universal favorite. “What’s funny is the song came out 3-4 years ago,” LOCKBOX continues. “My other friend Mox Jade came to me and asked if he could do a remix in 2025, and I figured we could bring it back. The only reason I started bringing it back was because of the remix, but those [promo] videos did really well.”
However, LOCKBOX isn’t just looking to promote older music, but release new content as well. If you visit his socials, you’ll find frequent promotion for his latest genre blending single, “Whiskey Nights,” with indie folk collaborator, Josh Sellors. According to LOCKBOX, the song has a strong country flare, and while he doesn’t foresee himself doing this often, he enjoys trying new things.
“That record came out of left field,” he explains. “I sent [my friend Josh] a demo that I thought he could work on, and I thought it would be fun to lean into. It’s not the kind of record I’ll be putting out all the time, but every now and then, it’s fun to just sprinkle in something different.”
LOCKBOX understood the importance of making the instrumental tailored to Sellors’ strengths. He detailed how combining their styles was fun, and he was ultimately proud of how the song came together. “The instrumental initially was super guitar driven and had those big chugs. I figured let’s double down on that.” he says.
When asked if this single would be on any potential albums, LOCKBOX went a step further and confirmed information about potential releases. “Probably none of the music I have out right now would be on the album. I’ll probably drop a couple singles and have it waterfall into an album,” he explains. “I’ll probably put out some sort of EP this year, so that’s going to be coming.”
Although no dates are confirmed, LOCKBOX hinted on future music carrying a similar upbeat vibe. He enjoys the glittery aesthetics of his new image and gives praise to the things that inspire him.
“Different aspects of nature inspire me a lot. I’ve always been drawn to lush forests and fields of grass, so that imagery has inspired me sonically,” LOCKBOX says. “I’m also married to an awesome woman, and she inspires me. That’s why I’ve switched lyrically to more uplifting stuff—she just has that effect on me.”
The two have been together since the start of LOCKBOX’s music journey. “I didn’t start music until after college,” he says. “I was working with a computer science degree and was working some software jobs when I hit a quarter life crisis and questioned if this is what I want to do. I saw a couple of interviews with Nghtmre or Slander, and my girlfriend [at the time] and I decided to pack up the car and head off. I attended this school in LA called ICON and I learned music for a year.”
Since the pandemic, LOCKBOX has done live shows, collaborations, and released many successful singles. His advice to upcoming artists is to just get your ideas out there.
“The biggest thing for a beginner to do is to put out as much music as possible. Just finish music and try to finish ideas. You learn by doing.”
