On November 12, 2025, the New Jersey-based nonprofit RiverJAM Music will host The Listening Room: Songs & Stories, a special evening that will feature New Jersey artists Jake Thistle, Erik Mason, and Johnny Kasun. With doors opening at 6 pm, attendees have the chance to talk with the performers and grab a quick bite before settling in for the music at 7 pm. The event, as it takes place at Triumph Brewery in Red Bank, New Jersey, reflects RiverJAM’s mission to promote original artists and strengthen the small musician community. After all, all of the proceeds go directly to the artists performing.

“It’s a show where artists can share their work, grow through collaboration, and connect with audiences in a meaningful way,” explained Meredith Kasun, the founder and Chief Operating Officer of RiverJAM. Kasum founded RiverJAM in 2024 with her husband, Dan Kasun, for the purpose of helping and promoting songwriters through writing sessions, mentorships, writing and rehearsal facilities, and industry connections. Though it’s only existed for a year, RiverJAM’s influence has undoubtedly kicked off strong.

During these hosted events, audiences can expect an evening filled with music, community, and heartfelt connection. “You’ll hear original songs and the stories behind them in an intimate setting that invites listening and reflection,” Kasun said.

As for the artists chosen, according to Kasun, each of them embody the spirit of the what the night means. “Each one brings not just talent, but a deep sense of purpose—the kind that shows up in their lyrics, their performances, and the way they connect with a room,” she elaborated. Together, the three represent the heart of what Songs & Stories is all about: authenticity and musicianship. “Johnny Kasun is a guitar virtuoso whose playing adds depth and emotion to every note, Jake Thistle’s heartfelt lyrics and powerhouse vocals command attention, [and] Erik Mason brings feel-good energy and finesse on the keyboard, delivering melodies that linger long after the last chord.”

At this event, Kasun will also announce the recipient of RiverJAM’s first Fall Songwriting Sponsorship, a new initiative created to support emerging songwriters in Monmouth County by providing funds to record and produce their original music. RiverJAM itself is made up of professional musicians who have been writing and performing for many years; they know firsthand how trying the music industry can be.

The night also follows the success of the first ever Listening Room event, hosted in September. A sold out show, the night consisted of five performers who additionally serve as the nonprofit’s musical mentors.

Between the various programs offered and drive to provide artists with meaningful connections, RiverJAM cultivates a musical community that can’t be ignored. Kasun concluded, “These events are designed to celebrate original music and strengthen the bonds that make our music scene thrive. Most importantly, these shows give artists a platform to be truly heard—where listeners gather in a quiet, intimate room to experience the music with intention, respect, and heart.”
